AKESHORE COLLECTION

January, 2006: The Lakeshore Collection, Ltd. is proud to offer new “Art of Fire” pieces by Master Ceramist & Artist George Robert Boothe. Each one-of-a-kind, studio unique artist choice piece is individually created using the traditional 16th century art of Raku. He applies a special solid-color glaze & fires each to over 1900 degrees, then removes the orange-hot piece from the kiln & places it directly in a special metal reduction chamber filled with combustible material such as leaves, sawdust, paper, straw, or pine needles, which immediately ignite & engulf the piece in flame. The fire, smoke & oxidation create inimitable textures, metallic patinas, mirror-like reflective finishes or deep jewel tones which cannot be duplicated. The pieces shown here are representative of the work produced on each mold.
