bought her first Breyer horse in 1969 and collected until her
teen years. When she met her husband, they attended toy shows
and swap meets looking for car models for his collection. That's
how she got back into the hobby at the age of 20. Her involvement
quickly escalated and she began to design T-shirts with model
horses on them and began Horse-Power Graphics in 1986.
Sheryl also published her own hobby magazine, The Model Horse
Trader, which began in 1991 to fill the need for collectors
to buy and sell models. The West Coast Model Horse Collector's
Jamboree began in 1992 as an alternative to BreyerFest
for this side of the Mississippi.
Sheryl has been drawing and painting models since she was a
child and had her first professional oil painting lessons at age
13. After accepting a contract to paint collector plates for The
Disney Store in 1994, it was a natural transition to use the production
painting studio to paint model horses. She's developed a few favorite
air brush techniques and also has a knack for mixing color. Painting
models is something that she truly enjoys, and she hopes to continue
to be able to take custom orders as her busy schedule permits.
